49 - UNCLE WALT

UNCLE WALT

10 x 14 inches

(One of Mother’s five brothers)

This is Mother’s brother Walt. He was like a second father to Mom and her other siblings. Other than Dad, Mom said Walt worked harder than any man she knew. The Weitzenkamps were known as humble, hard-working, honest, salt-of-the-earth people—a family that stuck together through thick and thin. Mom’s brother became one of Dad’s best friends. Both were driven, always brainstorming and spurring each other on. When Dad started his high-moisture bin company, Uncle Walt was one of the first to purchase Dad’s bins. His support gave Dad the confidence to move forward with his dream. Struggles that Mom and Uncle Walt experienced in their younger years made them both stronger. They were good role models, teaching that every challenge can become an opportunity to become resilient, to become more.
