THE TEMPLE

9 ⅝ x 18 ⅞ inches

(Performing arts education building)

Speech classes were held in the Temple Building; they were a requirement for students enrolled in Teacher’s College. I truly dreaded the idea of public speaking, but thankfully, another forever friend in my sorority helped me achieve high scores. Marylee had developed social graces beyond most. Even though she held the Miss Nebraska title, she was, and still is, completely down to earth. I credit her for helping me conquer my college speech class anxiety.

Like the exterior of the Temple building, Marylee is not only visually beautiful, her interior strength is one to behold. Following her lead taught me how to find my own sacred space within—my inner temple. Her personal guidance allowed me to triumph over my public speaking fears for my speech class.

Public speaking is still very challenging for me, as it is for many. I much prefer speaking on a more intimate level as I share the lessons of my sacred interior, my very own temple.
