NEW SHAPES
12 ¾ x 20 inches
(2002—Hay bales seen from Nebraska Interstate 80)
For an artist these new organic shapes were thought- provoking painting models that elicited life. My creative side saw these bales as human forms nestled together to keep each other warm in the face of storms; silent guardians of a private world. Even though these bales have a scratchy visual texture, they convey warmth in their curved array of crevices.
Each stands close to another while still respecting individuality. As space between is revered, combined strength is enhanced.
