STAIRWAY TO KNOWLEDGE

These rounded stairs led to the dark and somewhat foreboding library next to the study hall. After living such a protected life in my little country school, the education that the library offered was too advanced for me. Even though the social experiences were a peek into the real world, the library’s lessons were more than I was prepared to learn.

The new exposure moved me closer to understanding and accepting differences and other people’s choices. Academic learning seemed effortless compared to the social education high school offered.

Even though I may not have known it at the time, the stairway to knowledge provided multiple spiritual lessons. The more steps I had to climb to understand others, the more strength and compassion I developed in my heart for all.
