DEW DROP INN
7 ½ x 11 inches
(Concrete building on Uehling’s main street)
Dew Drop Inn was a dream of my classmate and dear friend John Young. Hands down, he was the best dancer in our class—he loved to jitterbug! He was also the best social organizer in our class. When he noticed that this simple concrete block building on Uehling’s main street had been sitting vacant for some time, he talked the owner into letting the high school students use it for dancing and hanging out. With a propane tank providing heat, we cranked up the music and danced the night away—it was a real blast.
John loved living life to the fullest. Sadly, he was the first in our little class of eleven to pass. A tragic motorcycle accident took his life. Like John, Dew Drop Inn portrays a welcome and open heart, a warm invitation, and a reminder to stay connected with old friends.
