FROM TOWN TO FARM

14 x 21 ½ inches

(Town home of Grandmother Adelle, Oakland, Nebraska)

When Grandmother Adelle married, she moved from this house in town to Grandpa’s farm. Based on my own experiences, I suspect it was difficult for her to move from town living to rural living. Growing up on our farm was perfect for my childhood creativity, but once I experienced the social aspects of a city, the isolation of farm life no longer suited me.

Even though I love city living, my childhood memories of being surrounded by nature are comforting and grounding. I often go to nature to find peace, even if only in my mind.
