FIRST FIVE YEARS
13 ¾ x 20 ¾ inches
(Mother’s childhood home, Wayne, Nebraska)
Mother lived in this house the first five years of her life; these were her formative years. She talks longingly about this home, as if she would like to return to the simpler days of her youth. They must have been good years for her.
When Mother shares her nostalgic memories of those days, tears often come to her eyes. I gently listen as she reminisces. When our parents or ancestors share the footprints of their lives, we are reminded to be still and listen closely; their shared memories can often reveal the basis for some of our own life choices.
