Uehling High’s study hall is seen in a deteriorating state. Eleven desks used to fill the empty space seen in this painting. Memories of this area, where my small senior class once sat, still linger. Now desks are replaced by bright, cleansing light, symbolizing my understanding of teenage peer pressure. Any past hurt from those days has become a blessing of strength; shining light on past pain allows for healing.

We are the sum of every event in our lives—with wisdom our experiences take us to heightened awareness and we become more compassionate.
